Reiki- What is it and what are the benefits

I love this quote, it really explains what Reiki is and how it helps. When I committed to my

personal journey of healing, Reiki was one of the modalities I came across. I had heard a lot

about it but what I didn't realise was the power of Reiki healing. It works on the whole energetic body- Mind, Body and Soul


My journey with Reiki began with a Reiki Master, I used to suffer a lot from of sore throats,

colds and coughs. My throat chakra was blocked, I was stressed, experiencing a lot of aches

and pains and you can see where this is going. When I started receiving Reiki Healing and

Chakra balancing, I started to feel the shift, was opening up more, speaking my truth and

expressing myself and transformation. It was like peeling a layer of onion and working on all the emotions that were coming up.




Reiki is a Japanese form of spiritual energy healing. The word "Reiki" translates as universal life force energy.


We all are made up of energies, our bodies have a flow of energy running through and our 7

main chakras keep the energy flowing. Reiki is a safe method of healing, it is not a substitute

for any medical intervention nor is it used to diagnose, however, can be used alongside it to

help strengthen healing. There is no religion associated with Reiki.


This system of healing was developed by Mikao Usui the early 20th century. It is non invasive and a form of complimentary Therapy used in the UK since 1900's. Reiki can be used along side conventional medicine but not used to diagnose and not a substitute for traditional medicine.


Mikao Usui created a set of five principles to bring spiritual depth in every day life. These are practices by all practitioners who are trained in Usui Reiki:


Just for today:

Do not anger

Do not worry

Be grateful

Work with diligence

Be kind to others.


He called these:

Overall Reiki promotes healing, aids relaxation, peace, wellbeing and security
